The Corporation of Musick

The Corporation of musick is a cornett and sackbut ensemble dedicated to recreating the sounds and styles once heard in the royal courts, churches and streets of Renaissance and Baroque Europe.

Consisting of four key players, the group takes its name from a charter dated 15 July 1635 which gave the King's musicians authority over the training and performance of musicians in the Capital and its immediate environs. This 'corporation' was made up of the finest court composers who were "wardens of the Art and Science of Musick".

The ensemble regularly performs for events at the Historic Royal Palaces including Hampton Court Palace and the Tower of London. The players have extensive experience performing regularly with some of the worlds finest choirs and ensembles. They have been educated at some of the best music schools in Europe, Trinity College of music, Royal Conservatory of The Hague, Hochschule für Kunst Bremen & Birmingham Conservatoire.

We pride ourselves on our research into historically informed performance practice, finding the most suitable repertoire, instrumentation and even reconstructing instruments for the closest representation of the period, place and practice. We are a flexible ensemble and are able to add players and instruments to accommodate any requirements.
