Sam studied cornetto for his undergraduate degree at Trinity College of Music. His studies have not only led him to explore the mute cornett, tenor cornett and cornettino, but natural trumpet and slide trumpet, historical reeds including shawms & curtals, and various types and sizes of bagpipes.
Sam directs 'The Corporation of Musick' a new and vibrant cornett and sackbut ensemble which brings new historical insights to existing and new found repertoire. He regularly performs and records with some of the most influential groups in Europe including Cantus Cölln, Academy of Ancient Music, Gabrieli Consort and Players, Dufay Collective, Musica Fiata, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, English Concert, I Fagiolini, and the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra.
Sam is also a maker cornetts and historical mouthpieces for brass winds. These are based on or copied from surviving originals and have given new insights into the sounds and capabilities of these instruments. They are being used by a rising number of professional and amateur players all over the world. Examples can be seen on display at the Edinburgh Musical Instrument Museums.
Sam is in demand as a teacher, tutoring cornetts and sackbuts in Berlin, Dartington International Summer School and having taught cornetto at the University of Hull, the University of East Anglia.
He directs and teaches a cornetto making course with Andrew Hallock. The course takes place over four days and participant carve their own instrument from scratch. Currently there are workshops in Cambridge UK, Schwerin Germany, Evora Portugal and Schärding Austria.

Nicholas began playing baroque trumpet during his undergraduate studies at Newcastle University and Montréal’s McGill University. He was awarded the “David Barlow Memorial Prize” from Newcastle and graduated with honours in 2005. He began graduate studies with Susan Williams (Royal Conservatory of The Hague), was a Huygens scholarship recipient and received a distinction on completing his Master in 2010. After being introduced to the cornetto and subsequently becoming fascinated by this instrument, in 2012 he began taking lessons with cornettist Marleen Leicher (Antwerp) and later as a student of Gebhard David (Hochschule für Kunst Bremen).
During the course of his studies Nicholas won auditions for a number of academies, most notably performing in William Christie’s production of Purcell’s “Fairy Queen” at the Académie Européenne de Musique d'Aix-en-Provence. In addition to this he has taken lessons and followed masterclasses with Ute Hartwich and Jean-François Madeuf on trumpet, as well as on cornetto with Bork-Frithjof Smith, Jean Tubéry and William Dongois. Nicholas regularly performs as a member or guest with a variety of ensembles including Symphonie Atlantique, Clarini Trompetenensemble, Musica Amphion, Apollo Ensemble, Elbipolis Barockorchester, Currende, Die Kölner Akademie, Il Gardellino, Nederlands Bachvereniging, Les Muffatti, Vox Luminis, Bach Collegium Japan and Les Agrémens. He is also a founder member of the chamber ensemble Parnassus Collective and alongside Andrew Hallock he is also joint musical director of the historic brass ensemble Copper & Zink.

Martyn graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire with first class honours in 2011. Whilst at the Conservatoire he cultivated a love for early music and decided to specialise in the Sackbut at postgraduate level. He completed his postgraduate studies with distinction in 2013. Help Musicians UK provided much needed financial support over these two years; in the first year he received a Postgraduate Award and in the second year the prestigious Ian Fleming Award. The Boise Foundation and the Corton Hyde scholarships also helped facilitate his studies.
Martyn plays on a freelance basis with many leading early music ensembles including The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The English Baroque Soloists, The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century (Amsterdam), His Majesty's Sagbutts and Cornetts, Florilegium, The English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, The Gabrieli Consort and Players, QuintEssential Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, I Fagiolini and The Sixteen. He has toured the USA and Europe with Sir John Eliot Gardiner's Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists taking him to venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Palace of Versailles and a performance at the BBC Proms. Work with the OAE has included tours to Europe with Sir Simon Rattle playing Bruckner's Sixth Symphony and Verdi's Requiem with Marin Alsop at the BBC Proms. Martyn has recorded discs with His Majesty's Sagbutts and Cornetts, The Choir of King's College Cambridge, The Gabrieli Consort and Players and The Wrocław Baroque Orchestra.
Martyn is also active as a modern trombone player. He has played for the Birmingham Opera Company's Otello broadcast by BBC television, completed a long stint with the Royal Shakespeare Company on their most recent production of Hamlet and has toured China with The Orchestra of the Swan.

Cameron studied modern bass trombone at Birmingham Conservatoire and later as a John Lyon’s Charity scholar at the Royal College of Music. At the conservatoire he was introduced to the sackbut by Sue Addison and continued his studies at RCM under Patrick Jackman.
Following his studies he freelanced with various ensembles including His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts, Quintessential Sackbut and Cornet ensemble and has also worked regularly with John Eliot Gardiner’s English Baroque Soloists and Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique touring North America and Europe playing in venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Royal Concertgebouw, the Wiener Musikverein and the Opéra-Comique.
In 2013 he relocated to North Germany to study sackbut under Wim Becu. He now performs across Germany and Europe performing with ensembles such as Oltremontano, Gli Angeli Genève, Capella Cracoviensis and Lautten Compagney.
